It was an honour to be offered to wear the traditional Greenlandic sealskin clothing while in Uummannaq.

The Inuit survived for generations in possibly the harshest environment on earth. They are strong people both physically and mentally who found ways to fight through weathers and conditions where most people might have given up.

To survive in the harsh winter weathers they had to make the warmest clothing available By using sealskin they got clothes that were waterproof, windproof and kept them warm while being able to move freely at the same time.

The seals live wild all around Greenland and to this day the populations is very high. Every seal that is hunted is utilized fully. The meat, the fat, the skin and the claws.

It might be said that using the nature this way might have helped keeping inuit alive for thousands of years before the modern era.
