On this tour, Living in nature as an Inuit, you’ll experience and learn about the North Greenlandic (Inuk) incredible lifestyle, where their main (and pretty much only) life source is nature. So, if you want to learn how they fish and hunt in the wild, then this tour is perfect for you.

  • During the winter we recommend to dress in layers with clothing suitable for temperatures down to -25°C.

Itinerary

Day 1: WELCOME TO UUMMANNAQ
You’ll arrive to Uummannaq in the late afternoon and dine together with the local hunters. Then, we’ll shortly brief you about the plans for the following days.
Day 2: THE START OF YOUR FISHER/HUNTER JOURNEY
After breakfast, we’ll take a dog sled trip to the winter hut to drop the equipment. Then, we’ll take another dog sled trip to drop the long line for fishing Halibut.
Day 3: FISHERMEN LIFE
We’ll start the day with a fun dog sled trip to check our fishing line and pick up our catches! After this, we’ll visit the Ikerasak settlement, share amazing stories and have dinner with the locals.
Day 4: HUNTING & DOG SLEDDING
On this day we’ll take a dog sled trip to the gletcher fiord system to hunt seals and maybe even find snowshoe hares, polar foxes or grouses. Then, we’ll go to our winter hut and sleep in Uummannatsiaq.
Day 5:DOG SLEDDING TO THE GLACIER
We’ll start the day dog sledding to Sermilik Gletscheren and will watch the glacier from a short but safe distance. Then, we’ll dog sled to another hut where we’ll be speding the night.
Day 6:LET THE DOGS GUIDE YOU BACK
We’ll take a dog sled trip from our base camp back to Uummannaq. During the trip you’ll feel the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful landscapes around us. You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to rest, explore or discover on your own.
Day 7:CITY WALK TOUR AND DEPARTURE
We’ll take you on a city walk tour around the Uummannaq fjord and in the afternoon you’ll depart from Uummannaq. Hoping you leave with amazing memories of your week in the Greenland nature.

When and where does the tour end?
Your tour will conclude in San Francisco on Day 8 of the trip. There are no activities planned for this day so you're free to depart at any time. We highly recommend booking post-accommodation to give yourself time to fully experience the wonders of this iconic city!
When and where does the tour start?
Day 1 of this tour is an arrivals day, which gives you a chance to settle into your hotel and explore Los Angeles. The only planned activity for this day is an evening welcome meeting at 7pm, where you can get to know your guides and fellow travellers. Please be aware that the meeting point is subject to change until your final documents are released.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Airport transfers are not included in the price of this tour, however you can book for an arrival transfer in advance. In this case a tour operator representative will be at the airport to greet you. To arrange this please contact our customer service team once you have a confirmed booking.
What is the age range?
This tour has an age range of 12-70 years old, this means children under the age of 12 will not be eligible to participate in this tour. However, if you are over 70 years please contact us as you may be eligible to join the tour if you fill out G Adventures self-assessment form.

Easy way to discover the city

Buses don't come often and drivers don't have this information, there is a site that shows you the GPS location of the bus
