You’ll get a true appreciation of how enormous the icebergs you see from Uummannaq really are as we pass quite close to several of them on our journey in the fjord. You should also keep a sharp lookout for seals or one of the many playful whales that roam these waters in the summer months as you relax and enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

On our excursion we visit the ‘Red Desert’, so named for its colourful moon-like landscape. Here, the eroded rocks are rich in iron and sulphur. This resulting in a vibrant panorama that contrasts beautifully against a blue sky.

From the red desert we sail towards the bird mountain which is over 1000 metres high, a short distance away we find the Cadral with its enormous high steep mountainside, from here there is the most amazing view of the fjord, the village of Saattut, the wildlife and not least the icebergs.

From the Cadral, the journey continues slowly and steadily towards to Uummannaq again.
