Practical Information

The best months for your summer adventure in Uummannaq are July – September. The sea is clear of ice (except for the massive icebergs of course) and the whales are here on their annual visit.

The weather is sunny (mostly) and temperatures range from 3 – 10 degrees Celsius. While this might sound cold, the dry air and strong sun mean you will likely find yourself walking around in short sleeves if there is no wind. Make sure you bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat!

That being said, you still need to bring a good windproof jacket and warm clothes that you can layer. Put more layers on when you get cold (in the evening, on a boat tour, if there is a breeze), take them off when you get hot (hiking, relaxing in the sun).
